Ok so I thought id start a little project of my own, as I dont have a garage available at the moment im limited by the available light, wheather and any other excuse I can think of for being lazy J.
I started off looking for another car to start the project and then this came along already mostly done.
I started by gutting the inside, removing the excess wiring from the car and ended up with just the rear light loom and fuel pump, with a few niggles along the way.
Next I decided it needed new seats as I couldnt sit very comfortable in the seats as they were rather narrow up top around the shoulders,
So far ive removed:
All soundproofing
Any excess wiring from the interior loom
All radio and speaker wire
All rear seat and seatbelt brackets
Jack, spare wheel and spare wheel cage
Rear wiper
Radio
Speakers
Interior lights
Central locking and al door wiring

Im missing the pictures of all this as I wasnt going to do myself a little write up but thought why not,

So the pictures start:
This is how I bought it in January..

I’ve started modifying the roll cage myself as some people wanted silly money to add a X in the back and two X door bars, and ive also started removing part of the tunnel to get the seats sitting low and positioned a bit more central

ENGINE:

K&N FILTER IN STANDARD AIRBOX
MOCAL OIL COOLER KIT
ALLOY RAD
MAGNEX EXHAUST, GROUP N DECAT
LIGHTWEIGHT BILLET FLYWHEEL
COMPBRAKE QUICKSHIFT
GROUP N GEAR RODS

BRAKES:

BREMBO 4 POT CALIPERS WITH 288MM DISCS
STANDARD REAR BRAKES
DS2500’S ALL ROUND
FULL BRAIDED LINES
WILWOOOD BIAS VALVE
CASTROL SRF FLUID

SUSPENSION:

BILSTEIN B8 SHOCKS WITH EIBACH SPRINGS
SOLID REAR BUSHES
STANDARD FRONT BUSHES
HYBRID REAR ANTI ROLL BAR
OMP STRUT BRACE

CHASSIS:

OZ SUPERTOURISMO 15X7’’ WIH YOKOHAMA SPEC 2’S
INTERIOR:

CORBEAU PRO SERIES CARBON/KEVLAR SEATS
OMP DISHED STEERING WHEEL
SAFETY DEVICES ROLLCAGE
ALL UNUSED BRACKETS, WIRING AND C/LOCKING REMOVED

well its not a very long start but ive started it none the less, hope it might spur me on a bit now..........

Done a bit more over the weekend, got rained off on saturday and the wind blew the mig gas away so welds look like chicken sh*t but im only tacking it at home its going to get welded down a friends unit,

got both door bars in, just need to add harness bars and braces from wheel arch mount to bottom of main hoop, ive made a bar that runs over the tunnel connecting into main hoop but not pictured yet

Time for a little update i think.

Thought it was time i got my finger out and actually started doing something to the car

lately ive,

finished the cage
welded the roll cage plates it
welded seat rails in
finished the tunnel
added a quick relaese boss
added aerocatches
removed brake hoses so i can replace them
bought some h&r springs
got my schroth harnesses (well one) back off craig!
mounted the seats
stripped the dash of all un nessasary bits n bobs
bought some polycarb windows
Right, so since i started the thread ive been:

finishing off the roll cage

adding seat rails

adding aero catches on the front

and the rear

trial fitting seats and cage before painting starts

sorting a new quickshift (which was too short)

added an extension

and one of what it looked like before i took it apart

Dash is goin back in, it has a load cut out yet retains the heaters, cage is around 40kg, seats are carbon Kevlar and don't weigh much, although I have a 4l plumbed in extinguisher and a 2.25l handheld one, and polycarb windows, previous oner had 150 kg out before cafe and seats went it, everything was weighed down to .00 of a gram
