Hi, I'm new here and haven't had time for an introduction yet so bare with me. I urgently need help with something that should be very simple. The white clip that holds the clutch cable to the pedal has come off and I can't get it back on. It looks intact, theres no signs of fatigue on the plastic and no broken bits on the floor.

It looks like it should go on top of the spring assembly which has a slot in it that roughly matches the size of the bar on the white clip, yet no matter how I try to push it in it won't seem to go. It also seems to be a frustrating case of 'nearly but not quite' so to speak.

I've tried with the clutch in the depressed position and in the released position, I just can't get access to it. It looks like I may have to take the pedal off to get enough access to clip it back in. The cars in a car park at the moment so I will take my tools tommorrow for a better look. I've got enough slack to manouver the cable, its just clipping it into the pedal bit that I can't seem to do.

It definitely just goes on, I did mine and didn't need any tools or anything.

I seem to remember fitting it with the pedal up, then pushing the pedal down to taughten the cable and pull the clip on.

Best of luck, it shouldn't be a problem in the light Smile

Okay mate thank you. I'll have another go but it looks like I might have to take the pedal off to do so. I wonder if it will just come off again, perhaps its time for a new cable. If it does it again I'll probably try replacing it.

If that looks like it's going to be easier removing the pedal then go for it, but it shouldn't be necessary.

But yes if it comes off again, just replace the cable. An hour's work if you've got air con, half an hour if you don't. There are FAQs on it in the FAQ section Smile

Slot onto the top of the spring strut yeah? Cause it looks like its supposed to slot into the gap. Just want to make sure we're talking and the same thing.

Just to confirm for anyone else who reads this, the clip goes onto a hook on the back of the clutch pedal, NOT the spring strut. I tried to take a picture but it was too dark down there to be useful. It helps a lot if you take the fuse box cover off and pull out the concetina bit of the air duct, that way you can see what your doing.

Now I've put the cable back on, the pedal is to the floor nearly and its quite hard to get into gear and creeps forwards unless I have the pedal really right down to the carpet, this indictates that the self adjuster is nackered right? It can't be the clutch because I had that done about a year ago and only done about 8000 miles since then and some related components were renewed at the time as well.
