Hi guys, never a good start when your first post on a forum is because there's a problem with your motor, but here goes...

Took the Rallye in for it's MOT this morning to be called a few hours later from the garage telling me it had failed on 1) emissions (known to be the lambda so not the problem) and 2) the HID headlamp beams not putting out a good enough spread/having a poor coverage.
From my knowledge, having only purchased the car a few months ago and not knowing exactly when the HID's were fitted or who fitted them, it has passed at least one if not two or more of it's latest MOT's without any word of the HID's being a problem.
The technician at the garage has basically told me that they don't know where to go or what to do about them, and has basically classified it as an 'unknown'.

Just wondered if anyone had experienced anything like this before or if anyone had any suggestions as to what could be the problem and how it could be resolved.

Cheers.

Steve.

Is it a red rallye mate an did you buy it from Gordon?

Stick orginal bulbs back in for mot then change back if you wanted and in future bring it up to me in Perth for your MOT!

Yes sir, that's the one. And thanks, you may be seeing me in the future Thumbs up

So would it just be a case of unplugging the pack, replacing the bulbs and running it off the old wiring? The boy at the garage told me I couldn't just replace the bulbs because of the pack, but if I unplug the pack I should be fine?

Forgive me for the newb questions, I'm still in the early stages of learning Doh

I know man, something not quite right there haha.

Problem has been solved anyway. Just had the boy on the phone telling me that it wasn't as big a problem and wasn't actually the lights as first expected, but the casings. Because they're plastic and not glass they just become sh*t over time...slap a bit of t-cut on and problem solved.

Thanks though guys.
