when im in any of my six gears i've noticed that when i lift off the accelerator i get a little "tick tick" almost as if somethings moving back into place.. could this be one of the engine/gearbox mounts? obviously its going to be hard to tell as i cant get it to do it just my revving in neutral. only happens when the cars under load.its a phase 2 gti6 thanks in advance for any ideas as to what it could be. ________________________________________ 1997 blaze GTI-6 bought january '11 £800 Spend to date on parts £827.88 |

Sounds like the onset of a crack in the chassis engine mount. See my thread for the repair proceedure. Chassis repair ________________________________________ R H Davey Welding Supplies. the other thing that crossed my mind was a hole in the exhaust manifold, (its almost that kind of sound) but it would probably do it even when reving out of gear? just an idea________________________________________ 1997 blaze GTI-6 bought january '11 £800 Spend to date on parts £827.88 |

I get the occasional tick when I reverse I have looked at my lower engine mount and it looks a little tired so I will be replacing it. You could always get someone to load the engine up in first gear using the clutch bite with the hand break on whilst you look at the engine. There shouldn't be too much movement but if there is then that's your problem. Hope this helps Matt ________________________________________ Team Nile 6Team: 40.2 MPG 5 x a 306 owner! currently abusing type r's in a town near you ™ I truely live for the 306 ® Build date: 29th October 1997 Wednesday's car midweek madness |
