Hi,

After fitting a new resistor to my heater blower to get speeds 1,2+3 working again on the heater speed dial, I noticed that the inlet flap wasn't opening.

After taking the top glove box (1.6xs not gti6) I saw that the white lever was disconnected from the wire which connects it to the heater speed dial in the front console. This controls the flap.

How do I get to this lever? take the glove box out?

I found this picture on the forum which had a clear shot of the lever I need to get to.

Take the glovebox out and you can get to it.

Cheers for the reply.

I managed to get the glove box out without smahing it off lol, which in itself is an achievement.

For anyone else doing the same job, get your head underneath and pinch the rounded end of the plastic rivot and pull on the other end with your other hand. this seems to work quite well.

once the glove box was off, I found it pretty easy to bend the wire back into its hole on the leaver. I then straightend the wire and sprayed it with a little wd-40 to make sure it ran easliy (I got a little resistance when turning the speed dial and it was because of the kink I made in the wire to get it back into its hole) bend it back into a plausable position and then wd-40 it.

Fitting the glove box back on was easy by just slotting the plastic rivots back through the hinges on either side.

If your heaters are stuck on hot, then I would have thought that one of the cables behind the actual heater dials would have disconnected itself.

IIRC, the heater control cable goes from the back of the heater control and runs to the door flap by the heater matrix and simple opens/closes it to allow warm air through. Smile
