looking for some advice before i fix this properly (haha)..

have been using the a/c switch to control my fan for a while, problem i have is its no longer working. The fan itself still works and the a/c button seems ok (light still works).

any ideas?

A/C gas has probably leaked out.

Unless you mean you've disconnected the pressure switch already in which case it will be some sort of electrical issue.

yip gas long gone.. my problem is i was using the a/c button to work the engine cooling fan, and for some reason it no longer works (yet if i pull the brown relay under bonnet the fan kicks in) the only other issue i had was the blower motor also stopped working, but i stripped and cleaned that and its ok now Whistle

thanks for reply

Sounds like it may be an issue with the low / high speed fan switching.

Check the relays in the fan housing and go from there.

Okay, when you pull the brown plug do you get both fans running together, both at low speed for a few seconds and then both switching to high speed?

I suspected that might be the case. Your fans do not operate correctly. That's definitely part (if not all) of the problem. Both fans should run together, either both at low speed or both at high speed.

The three relays in the fan cowling control the switching of the fans and high/low speed. I suspect the root cause of your problem is in there.

Cooling fan system FAQ & circuit diagrams

Start by putting 12v directly across the non-responsive fan to check for a dead motor. Then start looking at the relays.

i had the bumper off last week to check wiring/connections etc. While the bumper was off i swapped the two relays (behind bumper) and still only had the same fan work.. sorry to go on and on, but my issue is when i bought the car the fans werent working, so i bridged the a/c plug to control the one working fan with the a/c button. (as many other people have) but now the a/c button wont work the fan (but the fan is still working) Crazy

Get the fans working properly first then look at the A/C switch.

I suspect that once the fans are working correctly the switch will work again.
