Hi All,

Couple of questions re fitting my new seats...

Have done the passenger side one... however now on my clocks i have a flashing airbag sign and seatbelt light is constantly on (yes i am wearing it!) is there anyway to stop these?

Also as i was trying to do the drivers one... there is one screw i cannt get to undo to get the drivers seat out. It is the front one near to the handbrake. It is covered by the plastic stuff that goes round the edge of the seat... How do i get this off?

Did you reconnect the orange wires underneath to the seats and pretensioners?

That'll be it then Smile

You'll need to remove the Airbag bulb or get a shunt to go in the wire to stop the light coming on.

The light's there to tell you there's a problem with your airbag, and so if you've disconnected your airbag it'll be on Yes

Coolies, what about the seat belt light tho?

Isnt there a guide somewhere to removing seats?

IIRC you need to remove the plastic shroud that covers that side of the drivers seat, should be 2 very small torx screws

I seem to remember removing the centre console around the handbrake to get it off

So...
remove rear ashtray, undo 2 torx screws in there

remove handbrake rubber (pull and twist, be careful not to smash your hands when it finally comes)

lift gear gaitor and undo 2 bolts near the stick, then that whole peice of console should remove

undo 2 screws on plastic panel in question, to gain access to seat bolt

Sweet thanks Vernam and Owain! Smile

Any ideas how to get the seatbelt light off tho? And any ideas where to pick up a shunt for the airbag light? Dont fancy having to remove half the dash to get at the bulb Razz

I take it the seatbelt light is red in colour?

all you need to do is remove steering wheel, the cowling and a few more torxs screws to get to the clocks, takes around 10 mins IN AND OUT

Easiest thing really is to remove the lamps

you will need some torx screwdrivers, turn the wheel ¼ one way and feel behind for 2 holes, inside that hole is a torx screw which needs undoing, and then turn it the opposite way and undone the 2nd one, before starting make sure the battery is disconnected to avoid the airbag going off, one the airbag is off there is a big torx screw in the middle of the spline, undo it and pull the wheel towards you

Im pretty sure what light you are talking about and i think its linked with pre-tensioners/airbags rather than a actual seatbelt light, i had never seen the RED seatbelt light before on all the 306's ive had until my dad bought a 6 with this feature

Steering wheel does not need to come off to get the clocks out at all. It makes it easier but shroud and stalks suffice too. Know which I'd prefer to remove.

Small rachet and patience for the pain in the arse bolt. By the time you've removed the rest of the crap and put it back together you will have persevered. Unless you are removing these bits anyway.

Steering wheel takes litrally 2 mins to get off and make the job much easier for me, each to their own Razz

Boom. Would you look at that, the exact answer why not to remove the wheel Wink

I also love that it's a 2 minute job too. If people actually timed these 2, 5 and 10 minute jobs they'd actually be very surprised at the real time it takes. Either that or I'm just really slow Laugh

Hmm i think i might try and go down the non removal of the steering wheel cus if i screw it up then yea lol...

The light is the one next to the airbag light in the middle of the dash console.. it is also orange so your probably right.

quote:

The light's there to tell you there's a problem with your airbag, and so if you've disconnected your airbag it'll be on

It is the passenger seat i have removed so far, is the airbag connected to this? or are the two wires that connected to the passenger seat just the pretensioners and seatbelt? If so why is the light blinking at me! Angry

takes literally a minute to get the clocks out, no need for wheel off. just put wheel on lowest position and as you withdraw the cluster, pull the top of the wheel back about 10mm and it'll come out simples

This.

I had my clocks out in the HDi to change a blown bulb and it took about 10 mins all in, clocks in and out. no steering wheel off and no stalks out.
