Hi Guys,

Looking for a bit of info. Fancied some 307 challengers to make direct fitment track wheels out of, but was offered a set of the 206 variant (vortex?) with solid centres. I'm told that the two are offsets, but not sure what's what.

What are the offsets of the two variants, and which, if any, would be a good fit for the 306? Are both no good without spacers? I see a lot of people running the challengers.

Thanks

Simon

from memory;

206 wheels are solid centres and 7" wide, ET28

307 versions have centre caps, only 6.5" wide, ET31.

in essence, the inner edges of the 206 rims are further in by 3mm, the outer edge is 9.5mm further out.

Hmmn, not entirely sure that either of them are very good then. Had a chance to get a set of the 206 variant, which came off a 306 XSi, but having done a quick fitment check it seemed to foul the coilovers on my rallye (wheel didn't turn) which I thought was odd.

Is this normal? Or is there something dubious about my coilovers (came on the car, first time I had a wheel off).

you need 10mm spacers with the 206 ones.

How come they fit a standard car in that case?

The coilover collar adjustment comes down lower than the cup for the spring on the standard shock?

You saw this yourself on my Rallye?

Fail! That's that idea out the window then.

any good pug 17s that fit a 306 without spacers? Want a nice set of any 17s really that are direct fitment so i can run slicks without spacers.

Never knew it was so hard to find direct fitment wheels for pugs. :|

order new TD's and you'll have them in pug offset.

why 17" though? they're bloody heavy when you go that big?

only if you run the car too low Wink

My AST's sit nicely above the tyre, so did Adam's on different springs.

Not ordering new wheels, that's just p*ssing money up the wall!

I'm going to 17" as I plan to run 330mm brakes eventually (have some interim ones) and have 17" Michelin slicks sitting in my house.

The coilovers do come lower on the spring platform but that would make no difference if the wheel offset was correct. Might chuck the GAZ coilovers on first and see whether they repeat the problem the current ones do.

Hello,
I've some questions about the 206/307 alloys as well and I'm gonna post them here if it's no problem. What's the weight of these wheels? I've searched through the forum and Googled it as well, but couldn't find any info. If I remember correctly when I weighted my Cyclones they were around 8kgs and a friend of mine told me that the Challengers are 9kgs, and then another friend bought himself the 206 Wheels (Atlantis I think) and even though they're 7J he said they weight 8kgs which is less than the Challengers and as much as my Cyclones.. and they're 15" !? Now what's the truth? Definitely someone used a broken scale or something Big grin I can't see how they can weight as much as the cyclones.. or be lighter than the standard Challengers considering they're even 0.5" wider!?
Thanks in advance for any replies Smile
and p.s. I'm sure the wheels' name is Atlantis but I see this topic is about Vortex?! What's the difference or it's the same wheels with different names?
