Noticed recently that the clutch pedal has to go all the way to the floor to change gear and reverse is a real bas**rd to get. Clutch or cable ?

Cheers.....

As a rule of thumb and specific to it being a clutch problem as opposed to gear linkage or other...

... difficult to select or crunching gears would usually (in my experience) suggest cable whilst slipping would usually suggest clutch plates/components. Reason being that difficult gear selection is usually caused by the clutch not disengaging properly (the cable's responsibility) whereas slipping is caused by the clutch not engaging properly (the friction and pressure plate's responsibility).

I have no idea if the 306 cable can be adjusted at all - I'd doubt it, I'm sure most modern cars are self adjusting.

HTH.
