Possibly low on oil or has the wrong grade of oil. These gearboxes do get very stiff under those circumstances.A heavily worn gearbox mount can cause this too. Is it easier to change gear with the engine off? ________________________________________ Rich |

it has a small leak from a driveshaft oil seal but no crucnching or anything and its not lost much oil. its the same with the engine off and it really feels like the linkage. il need it over a pit at work for a good look |

if you need a box mate ive got 1 lying in the garage.only time ive had stiff gears was when my clutch plate had cracked, but that was form harsh driving, but the gearstick still moved freely but was hard to select gears. the d turbo is still running spot on mate! ________________________________________ In my garage just now2003 BMW M3 & 2009 L200 Raging Bull & Audi Q5 S Line AX stock rod & Saxo Stock rod Sold the bike an charged rallye an bought a caravan, midlife crisis or what! |

good good that thing will go to the moon and back and not miss a beat. found the problem, the pivot bolt that bolts to the subframe, that bush is seized, when the bolts tight gears are solid, bit of advice for people with similar problems, take the bolt out and put some lock tight on it, tighten it up then loosen it a quarter turn, you can move it with your pinky! |

if they bodged the timing belt, might have dropped the engine on the drivers side but not taken the linkages off and could of bent them? worth a check ________________________________________ 309 GTi6-T |

sounds like a linkage problem, gearbox oil is important as the other stuff makes the gearbox tight when the oil is cold. pug stuff is p*ss thin but these gearboxes love it. as i said though it does sound like your linkage could be bent from the cam belt change. dropping the cam belt side of the engine to gain access to the belt and may have consequently bent your gear rods!!! or maybe even busted your gearbox mount________________________________________ puglessPhase 1 GTI 6 1996-1997 Subaru Impreza GB270 2007-2008 rare spiderman comics same day international courier |
