The last week i've owned a D-Turbo (bought it cheap to use during the winter) and used back and fore work, every morning as usual i go out and start the car go in have breakfast then head off to work, this week in the DT im getting to work (5-6 mile) before any real heat is coming through whereas with the 6 it hot leaving the drive

Is this normal ? do the DT's take longer to heat up i've cheacked the system i have no leaks and i've bled it all through

Cant speak for DT's per say but most diesels are slow to generate heat.

My (petrol) Laguna is hot by the time i'm off the estate in a morning where as the works Tansit is only just blowing warm as i get to work! LOL

Yeah thats what i thought but by the time i get to work the engine would have been running 40mins and thought it should be hotter after running for that time

Also fuel ecconomy aint that great i dont see im saving anything much over the 6 as the 6 is so torquey low down i drive everywhere 1500rpm in top whereas the DT im having to rev it to move LOL

Dont think this derv will convert me from being a petrol head

Well i drive 15 mile to work and usually have the van running 15-20 mins before i set off, then it's a 20 min journey.

In fairness it's usally warm about half way to work so say.. half an hour?(ish) before i'm getting any 'real' heat.

Cant comment on the power thing, my van is faster than my car! (110ps Transit, 89bhp Laguna! LOL)

Im pretty sure my meridian heater is better than my 6 heater. The fans and air flow also seem stronger. Also seems hotter when on full settings!

Odd...

It will take a bit longer to get heat from a diesel due to the engines producing less heat but it should only be a few minutes more.

Check the themostat and go from there.

the 1.9 xud is a little slow to warm up in the winter unless you can get on boost quickly.

But theres no torque there at low speeds so need to drop it a gear to get it going through the rev range

Got a partner home from work tonight (dw8) and that was the same only just warming up as i pulled up so fingers crossed it aint the matrix Smile though the coolant was very dirty when i drained it yesterday

The dturbo does take longer for the hot air to come through i find.

Although as soon as you come on higher boost the temp soon climbs.

Diesels do tend to warm up slower, although my zx isn't actually that bad. They don't have much go until ~2.2k due to the relatively big turbo.
Fuel economy isn't helped by the gearbox, a popular mod is a hdi 'box due to it having better ratios.
Not that it really matters when they can run on veggie oil Wink
