Well after a dramatic 6 months I have finally got my feet back on the ground. After all most selling my beloved 6 for a pity-full £500 I decided to keep it and store it till I got somewhere to live! (BTW thanks for the advice and support from some of you guys, really helped to keep my head straight!)

Well now I have got a roof over my head and I am starting a new job, at Rolls Wood Group Smile, in Jan. As I will no longer have a works van its time to wipe the dust off the 306 and get it back on the road!!

The 1st task was to shovel the snow out the way of the garage! Then find the damn keys!!

Upon opening the door of the pitch black garage at night, I was suddenly reminded of my love for this car just by its sexy ass mean looks! Doors opened with the fob no bother. Quick check of the oil and water all ok. I jumped into the driver seat. Forgot how comfy the seats are.... Key in the ignition and at this point I had a quick pray. The cars been sat in the garage since September after all.

Turn the key with my eyes closed and the beast started up straight away no problem what so ever!! Chuffed would be the word I am looking. Is it wrong of me to mention that I got a bit excited from the sound of the engine as I drove it out the garage and up the street?!
So good start to the week and these goodies arrived today Cool

Got the wheels off so I can get the T1Rs fitted at work tomorrow! Then I'll spend a few hours changing the brake pipes, gear linkage and fitting the Griffiths short shift kit. Its booked in to the garage on sat for an MOT and Service and to see what the deal with the water level is (suspect head gasket as there is no sign of leaks).

Tonight I removed the battery and set about changing the gear linkage and fitting the short shift kit..

Removed the battery and plastics for better access! No point on struggling..

I know some people say this job can be a bit fiddly especially when putting the clips back in to the linkage when they are on, but i found it to be really easy to be honest.
The old linkage was past its sell by date and came off without much effort. Went to adjust the length of the new rods and found they were set perfectly already. Shoved the short shift on 1st. I then slackened the locking nuts the popped the rods on. This way I could turn the joints slightly so I could get better access to the holes for the clips. Then I shook the gear stick side to side a couple of times (not forward or back tho, as this causes the short shift to end up facing the wrong way). This let the rods settle and pushed the short shift in to the correct position. Then I tightened the short shift pinch bolt and rod locking nuts. Could select all the gears perfectly first time and I could already feel a major improvement in selecting gears.
Shoved the wheels on then took it for a quick spin, love the new feel of the gear selection I'd recommend it to every 6 owner. The short shift is about £20 and the rods are £40 odd and they take 20 mins to fit! Happy with the toyos but there's still to much snow and ice to test them out properly...

Well next up is Suspension and bushes! After reading a few other projects I think I will clean up the underside of the car too and give it a fresh coat of paint.
Sadly due to the time of year and lack of work van or spare car this won't be getting done till Feb or March. In the meantime Ill be collecting parts and asking questions too!
Got the Blisten B8s ordered yesterday. I'm not sure how low to go, was thinking of going for the Eibach 30mm drop springs as these seem to be highly recommended. Can some one put a photo up of there 6 with the B8/ Eibach combo so I can have a look? I have looked at a few different photos with of lowered 6s but not sure which ones are the 30mm and which are more?
Also what is the max size of torsion bars that can be fitted without modifying the trialling arms? Is it 21mm? I spotted some 23mm ones on spoox but not sure weather it would be worth the money. Thanks.
