Hi problem is wen i turn my heater on its fine but after about 5 mins when it heats up properly its smells like curry lol, anyone know why this is?

Heard people complain of this smell only for the heater matrix to go shortly afterwards

If you have some tools and arnt afraid of a bit of work, you can save hell of a lot of money by doing it yourself, i did mine a couple of months back using the FAQ guide printed off this site, it does seem quite daunting taking the dash out, but only took around 3-4 hrs with help from a friend (a must)

If its a GTI-6 with aircon your going to need the BEHR matrix

If its a Rallye with no aircon you are going to need a VALEO matrix

EDIT: and something i learnt the hard way was "if you are not going to remove the plastic part which go's through the bulkhead DO NOT remove the matrix pipes as they will be sure to snap and leave you stranded until you can source some, i left the plastic part in mine (as they are a c*nt to manouvre through the bulkhead) and just replaced the matrix itself, but took the pipes off at the start thinking that i had to
