hi there, ive had my gti6 for about a month now and done a fair few miles in it but its got this annoying misfire that i cant seem to trace.

basically it occurs after about ½ mins of driving, it'll completely miss so it has no power, until you lift off and re aply the power again, giving you another 5 secs of no missing, then it comes back. it goes away when the car is at full temp and has been driving for around 6-8 mins. if you then turn the car of and restart, it happens again for another 2/3 mins. the idles lumpy as hell and needs a prod on the pedle to clear it, then comes back 5 secs later. im also finding the fuel consumption is absolutely rubbish, i found myself using £20 fuel to do 60 miles - driving normally.

ive changed the spark plugs, fuel filter, oil and filter (as it was horrible) and its still there. now im reluctant to start replacing loads of things but when doing 60 miles to £20 i think ill be more cost effective to change some things. what you guys recon? lambda sensor? cts? tps?

also i seam to have a rattle for them cat, would this be a cause too? if i took it off and knocked it all out (if in fact it is that and not the heat sheild) would that eliminate the cat as the problem?

thanks for any help

head gasket ??? I'd get the compression checked asap

As for the cat well if that has collapsed then yes it will cause all sorts of problems as the exhaust gasses will not be getting out of the engine properly ? Maybe worth replacing that and the lambda sensor first Wink

ye the HG is all fine - no overheating (infact it hardley goes over 80 deg) and it doesnt use ANY oil or water (over the 2000 miles ive done in it)

ye i think ill knock the cat out tomorro (as i cant afford £200 to replace it atm) and replace the lambda and see if this helps. if it doesnt any other ideas?

thanks Smile
