Hello.
I bought used front coilovers from a guy. They are removed from broken 306 gti6. He said that they are adjustable (I dont know if only height is adjustable or both height and stiffness)

Now I am looking at them, and I am begining to think that I have made a mistake.

So here is the situation:
shock absorbers KW: KW 700 1001
springs H&R: HRF 160-60-070

I bought them because I use my 306 gti primary on tracks (time attack). I need stiff riding. And I need to be able to make camber adjustment. Thats why I searched to buy coilovers. These were cheap deal.

I couldnt find helpfull info, thats I am asking here. Is this combination good? Have any of you seen or used such combination in your cars?
And any info about any of my items will be helpfull.

Thanks in advance

p.s.
Googling helped me to find only some info about the springs - High performance Race Springs - 160mm free lenght,60mm inner diameter,70 N/mm rate
10x in advance.

here are some photos of what i have bought -

They seem like kw variant 2 basic

I couldnt understand how to adjust the hardness. I tried to rotate the little "pin" on the end of the rod and I broke it Sad
Did I cut any possibility to adjust the hardness?

Mine have a small (2mm?) hex screw in the top. If yours don't then either:

1. They're an older model which had a knob on top which is now broken
2. They're V1's, in which case they're not adjustable
3. The shaft on top is just one of their little thumb adjusters, which is just pushed into the hex screw and should pull out, leaving the hex screw for you to adjust.

by the number on the plate it seems that they are v2 - i saw this in the thread mentioned by dhampton.

After i broke the little knob, there is still chance to pull out the inner "axis". I will try to pull out.

Do you think that this manual - eaKONI%20Var2%20Einstellanleitung.pdf
is valid for kw var 2

I couldnt do nothing more.
I gave both shocks for repair and refill because one of them has a little leak. The mechanic said that rods are fine and he will be able to fully "refurbish" them. He will repair somehow the adjusting knob too Smile

Now I have another question. The guy that sold me the front shocks is offering me the rear ones too. They are gas schocks, adjustable and each has two markings on them. KW 700 1101, and the other marking is Koni 26-1486Sport. Their color is yellow.

I found in koni catalogue that they are for 306 1.1,1.4,1.6,1.8(incl cabrio), but NOT for gti. For s16/gti koni states 26-1487Sport. I dont know what is the difference between 1486 and 1487.

The ones offered to me looks nice and I thing they are in good condition. (At least better than the front ones)

I need advice - should I get them and replace my original rear shocks, or I should skip this offer (~50-60eur, which i dont have at the momentSad but i could pay laer).

Personally I'd go for the Koni's over standard, there's not *so* much difference between the cars that it'll be a massive difference. All the extra weight of a 2.0 is over the front anyway, not the rears.

If you're taking it on track I'd grab the Koni's and have something adjustable.

Yes the weight difference is in the front. But there is difference in torsion bars - the gti has thicker torsion compared to the others 306 models.
I am not sure but may be the shocks should be suitable with that and this may be the difference between koni numbering 1486 vs 1487.
