Author Subject: bad oil leak wheres it coming from?

got a very bad oil leak somewhere near the starter motor under the inlet manifold. Anyone know whats under there as I cant see into that part of the engine. Its well above the oil filter to the right. Will strip it down soon but would like to know what it could be? Engine runs fine apart from the leak.

Head gasket?Ninja

Or theres a bung in that sort of areawhere you can fit a oil pressure gauge into the blockWink

Its a blanking plug in there on Gti6 as standardSmile

more often than not its a sensor/sender not just a blanking plug.

Sure its the hole that S16 had sender for oil press gauge fitted in?

The adapter you can buy off Miles to fit pressure sender for oil gauge when converting 205/309 to Gti6 lump screws in the hole I'm on about Wink
You can see the blanking plug in the top of the adapter in pic,that was screwed into block.
Oil pressure switch is over the other side of block lower down Smile

yeah, many gti6's had a sensor in both holes.

Anyone know what thread that pressure take off is? I have an aftermarket gauge with sensor and need to make an adaptor.

Same thread as oil pressure switch thats in block just above oil filter,if thats any help!LOL

found the leak as someone said it was from the oil pressure sender unit. somehow it had become loose.
