As above, the blower has stopped on my 6. Other than the fuse (which I've checked) what should I look for? |

Would this also affect the a/c? Noticed that isn't working either. |

Yes mikebee, When I bought my 306 the blower wouldn't work, or the A/C. It took me ages to eventually find that one of the GREEN relays in the fusebox was burnt out..!________________________________________ Team... I drive a diesel |

Mine had this, I changed the motor last week. Been fine since. Mine had other issues to though such as just the fan being intermittent. ________________________________________ See the sheer power and might of the lesser known burrowing owl. |

Does it work on the fastest setting? (#4)If so, its the heater blower resistor that has gone ________________________________________ Red Rallye - Rolling "restoration"Wishbone Polybushes available |

My A/C and recirculating fan work. The heater was intermittent. Thought the motor was shot, so I took it to pieces, cleaned the brushes etc. Result: the motor works when hard wired. doesn't work at all when wired in to the car. Ordered a new blower as I suspect it's the control unit inside the blower itself (sealed board with 3 I.Cs) there are 3 wires to the unit, 12v +, GROUND and control, this varies between 1 and 5 volts. 5 when the blower is set to low or off and 1 when on full blast, in this correct? I assumed so. Also, the blower runs constantly, even when set to off. it bugs the crap out of me. From other threads on here, it appears that is normal? p.s the air con drainage pipe is the weakest piece of crap ive ever seen. ________________________________________ Love thy 6 |

Yeah, I reckon it's gotta be that internal control unit. I'll stick a photo and diagnosis of it up here when i've sorted it as there seems to be a few threads with similar symptoms, but not solution ( i hate that sorta stuff!) ________________________________________ Love thy 6 |

SOLVED!There is a control unit inside the the blower casing itself. It has a cast alloy case and is held in by three torx screws. The control unit is sealed under black silicone. I got it all out and an IC had blown. Replaced whole blower unit as control unit/module cant be found by itself. I think, basically, if you get 12v+ on the red, GND on the black and varying 0-4V (IIRC), between gnd and control wire, and the motor is intermittent/doesnt work, this is likely the issue. PM if anyone wants photos. cheers. ________________________________________ Love thy 6 |

Put photos up on here mate. It's a common issue and would be nice to have a finished thread. Good work by the way. ________________________________________ See the sheer power and might of the lesser known burrowing owl. |
