I'm hoping someone can help with this. I have a 2000 306 1.8 XS (XU7JP4 with aluminium throttle housing). On cold starts,it'll fire then die unless I hold revs. It'll fluctuate on revs and splutter a few times then pick up.After that, it seems fine. I initially cleaned the ICV and reset the ECU and it worked fine for a couple of days then starts acting up again. I've put a new ICV in which caused erratic idle (1500, sometimes jumped to 2500). Adjusted the screw on the throttle housing which slowed it down to normal, but the problem still exists. I'm starting to think that it might be ECU (Read about the ignition pack issue) Any suggestions?

Did you replace the ICV with a pattern part or a genuine Magnetti unit? They seem very tempramental so I'd always recommend an OEM fit one, even if it's second-hand.

I take it you have no engine light coming on throughout this at all?

It might also be worthwhile looking to check the other sensors, such as the TPS and MAP, although the latter is very difficult to access on an XU7 manifold.

It's a Magnetti Marelli 1 from ECP, so it's OE quality I think. I've done the checks with a multimeter on all the likely sensors. They all gave good readings.
Also, no engine light. Cars runs spot on. Just when starting it cold.
On a side note, there is a slight delay when you rev the car in neutral.
