Worked a treat. Some marine sealant in there. Thanks mate. Sod pulling the whole lot out.... A very French solution to a problem...

fitted a new spare one of these membranes to my mates gti today, there was so much water in it he had to use all his towels to dry it up as it was literally splashing from one side of the car to the other, he said there was like 3" of water in the footwell this morning before he set off!
