My car was a death trap last year. Was so embarassing i could'nt do more than 5 mph else it would be all over the place. All other normal cars were fine though. Not sure if the 306 is especially poor in the snow or the fact i had paradas on the wheels |

cheap tyres are the shittest!you may have happened upon a tyre with a half decent tread pattern which will help, but the rubber compound of true winter tyres is different. ________________________________________ need a part number? get on here - http://public.servicebox.peugeot.comBring on the Trumpets. |

I can vouch for those michelin alpin's, had a set for 'the family car' last winter and were very good. Managed to get a scenic up to a ski resort in the swiss alps with no problems at all! But they are'nt cheap! About £500 fitted for the set! |

I was about to ask about winter tyres also. I need some in 205/55/16 for the megane but I don't know which to look for, the usual sites seem to have a terrible selection.________________________________________ ex white Phase 1 Gti6, killed at cadwell park in November 07 |

The rallye was fine in the snow as its just ploughed a nice clear route. But the diesel was fun The winter tyres in Canada where something else! had to fit them by law in the winter months! ________________________________________ My 306 Rallye Project ThreadFew recent Youtube track videos, more on my channel Pair of Rallye's doing a few laps of Anglesey Lap of Anglesey Coastal 3 sisters circuit Few laps at Blyton |

Dont take your 6 / Rallye out in the snow if like me you cant drive. It will end in tears. And a bad neck. And a hole in your wallet. And you'll have to drive a Laguna 'cause your missus will decide that it was fate and you should've bought a 'family' car in the first place. /thread ________________________________________ mechanical_repairs wrote: i feel like giving her a good dry bumming session. |

Yeah, they are not cheap! Worth remembering if your planning on going over to europe during the winter though, as its illegal and/or your insurance is void if you have an accident with summer tyres. Plus they will hold you responsible for the accident regardless of who was at fault! |

Snow chains? That way if it doesnt snow you havent wasted £400 on tyres? If it does you can just put them on and take them off when it goes?________________________________________ Cherry Red 306 HDIChampionship White Integra DC5 Type R |

I dont know anything about them tbh, my old boss said he used them in the alps and it was like driving on a normal day, thinking about it bet they would f*ck your tyres driving round in slush ________________________________________ Cherry Red 306 HDIChampionship White Integra DC5 Type R |

Have you considered partaking in an arctic survival course in case you get stranded on the M6 for an hour too?It might snow for a day or two in the course of a year and probably less than an inch a time. If it concerns you that much, might as well just get the bus. ________________________________________ You feed beefburgers to swans. Arent snow chains illegal on UK highways? Because they damage the tarmac.Snow socks are another alternative to just get you through the worst of the snow. ________________________________________ My 306 Rallye Project ThreadFew recent Youtube track videos, more on my channel Pair of Rallye's doing a few laps of Anglesey Lap of Anglesey Coastal 3 sisters circuit Few laps at Blyton |

Iv heard a few people talking about these snow sock things. They are probably the best thing for people staying in the uk. Especially when you consider the costs involved. But if you can afford them, the winter tyres are a very good investment as they are (obviously) best taken back off the car during the summer and can be used for a few years if you look after them! Personally wouldnt be without them on the family car. |

well the reason I am looking at winter tyres is that last year I had the same 35mile commute as my girlfriend, so in the bad weather I was doing the driving. There was quite a few times when I could have done with more grip, including the time I got stuck and when I was driving up and down the A1 with 2 tyre lines and no other tarmac visible. This year I have left that job so she will be doing it alone.________________________________________ ex white Phase 1 Gti6, killed at cadwell park in November 07 |
