Hi guys,
This is my 306 gti with 100.000 km (something more then 62.000 miles) on the clock.
I just got it a month ago, it's in mint condition except for a little thing in the engine..

the dealer where I bought it already tried to get the 'tick' out of the engine. They replaced the following parts:

- waterpump
- cambelt
- tensionrollers
- in- and outlet-valves
- tappets

the 'problem' (don't know if it is a problem) is still there. my father has a garage/shop where we try to trace it this week. I think it's still something with one of the valves.

I'm not really planning to modify it, just keep it standard. It only has a K&N airfilter and Sebring exhaust system.

Car looks Love mate, i pine for the blaze regularly.

A techie will be along shortly to tell you you should have checked the valves while the head was off for HG change. And that they're bent. And that it'll go pop eddy style soon. LOL Thumbs up

thanks dude!

well, I bought it AFTER they changed the HG (and the other parts I named).
I think it was worth the risk for the price I could buy it.

what do you mean by 'eddy style', I don't understand this expression.

Well I saw the thread and I deff hope mine's not going to end up like that..

Besides that I'm not going to fix it myself, I'll let a colleague of my father do the work. He has like 25 years of experience in the rallye world so that should be good.. and the best thing is he won't charge me his man-hours Smile

well they found the problem. It's like I thought, it were 2 of the inletvalves that are bent so the cylinder head has been brought away for overhauling.

luckily I got to do it for cheap and hopefully I'll get the engine build up today Smile

Update:
Well, the head has been brought away to the machine shop for the second time, after I discoverd they didn't change the valve guides the first time. I haven't driven it too much lately because I was scared the valve(s) would/could weaken..
Too bad the machine shop didn't want to give any guarantee for the first revision so I had to pay the full load unfortunatly..
But I got finally rid of the tapping noise!

Also gave a few bits the same color as the bodywork, only need to spray the sideskirts and need to get a PH3 boot. Got some crystals of a member from here aswell.
