Hi guys, looking to get my flywheel lightened and balanced whilst im doin my engine rebuild... any ideas on how much to take off of a standard flywheel Huh? i know that if too much is taken off it can effect idleing which i obviously dont want.. and im not really to sure
any help would be mucho appreciated Smile

get it measured not weighed... the thickness of the flywheel is more important especially with the clutch type we use!

tell me more bud, i've spoken to a company who do it and they asked me how much i wanted taking off, didnt mention the thickness at all Huh?

you're not too far from Gwynnespeed, Andy can get flywheels lightened though I'm no sure how much his man can take off a gti6 flywheel, he does concentrate on keeping a good radius and even thickness.

AdamB got the V6 Flywheel lightened by them and it was a while Kilo lighter, but still 7 kilos, though they do have a much bigger clutch than the XU.

If you can't get it done with them there's Maynards in Strood, they're an old skool place and have a history of pug engine building amongst other old stuff.
