I may be being stupid but I'm getting inlet valves hitting on the tdc when timing the engine up at the standard points, anyone have a clue if I need to change anything? |

I have been told that a 264 degree inlet cam should have enough clearance? As standard? |

I'm sorry but not sure what is meant with how much lift at TDC? Yeh it has been had to replace the crank and it's been rebuilt with new uprated head gasket, the head hasn't been skimmed though! |

When you say standard points do you mean to the standard dowel/pin positions on the crank and cams? If not it's a good idea to set it as standard ( there's a guide on here somewhere) then make your adjustment from there. There was a good topic recently on cam timing if you have a search. Where abouts in Derbyshire are you? ________________________________________ www.bridgecraftmotorsport.co.uk |

I'd firstly check your bottom pulley hasn't slipped, easiest thing to do is get hold of another to compare it with or use a 205 gti bottom pulley.Otherwise you'll need to find TDC and set your cam timing by the lift at TDC method but this will require a DTI to do it correctly. Is it defo the inlet valves hitting the piston or could it be hitting an exhaust valve? ________________________________________ www.bridgecraftmotorsport.co.uk |

There to the Kent cams spec if I I'm right it's 264 inlet and 258 exhaust as there's harldy anything in the exhaust from standard. I think the pulley is ok as the it's tdc with the whole inline with what it says on auto data. I think it might be the exhaust valves hitting sorry |

iirc the pistons should not be at tdc with the bottom pulley locked they are all roughly half way up their bores, nearly in line.________________________________________ Wanted list.Coilovers Cams (not too lairy) Strut Brace PM if you have any of these Cheers |

sounds like PT80/PT81 spec, which are both 1.65mm lift @ TDC on the inlet and 264 duration but slightly more peak lift on the PT81 (10.94 / 10.79 for PT80)these seem to be too close for comfort in a standard engine. scary pics of pistons from a PT81 equipped engine and some info on how much space there isn't and what cams will and wont fit... ________________________________________ need a part number? get on here - http://public.servicebox.peugeot.comBring on the Trumpets. |
