Before I start messing around making one, does anyone know of anything available off the shelf that retains the standard lift up reverse? I have a Compbrake one here which I was about to fit, but to be honest even if I can sort the reverse issue I'm not convinced 4 grub screws will keep it in place with the abuse it will get....

If not I'm thinking of mounting the standard item in the car rather than underneath to gain 8mm, and machining a spacer to lift it up a further 10mm. Currently there is approx 10-18mm gap between the exhaust and bottom of the linkage, so if I cut bottom of the standard lever and extend it by 25mm I will still have plenty of clearance. Sound like a good idea?!

Doesn't the Griffiths one only shorten it one way though?

Nah no heater mate, how much do they cost? Forgotten about them to be honest, remember seeing that setup at Combe a while ago and thinking it was very nice... Thing is I can do my idea for free, well bar a few beers for the machinist at work!

not a clue to be honest, worth giving Colin a call or an email, he may be willing to sell you the main parts of the kit (i.e the main gearstick pivot and the quadrant)

The most complex part is working out the angles and lengths of all the quadrants and pivots.

found some pics - http://www.306gti6.com/forum/showthread.php?id=74819&page=3

the pic of the engine bay part is on page 5.

That was my thought when I saw the thread but im not sure if it has ever been made to work with a lift up reverse, i'm sure it could be adapted.

Dixon was using a 5 speed be3 205 box iirc.

Mmm after checking that thread it won't be an easy fit in mine, as I've already painted the interior and one of the rods will go through my fuse board... Looks like I'm going to have to make one!

Skip Browns do a quickshift for about £65 fitted iirc.
It's not offered as a kit because he brazes an extention on the linkage on the box & shortens the long link bar to suit. A very good setup!!!

Cool

I went for a Griffiths one - ordered it, turned up, fitted it in five minutes, never slipped once. Brilliant and simple.

If you look at this pic below, this is what Skip Browns do, very good mod, looks easy to do in this pic but must be much harder with the engine in LOL

Got the machining started today, will be ready tomorrow, and Mr Davey is doing the extension welding on Friday. Will get it all fitted up Saturday morning.

this is what I do:

you can see the original arm on the right, and the additional one I weld on (the longer one, which has a linkage attached), on the left

45GBP for the 3 linkage with balljoints + the modified arm + postage to the U.K.

Tried and tested on the Xsara VTS 5 speed gearbox
