Hi,

A friend jump started my car. It overloaded and caused some damage(see pics). You can see the damage to the plug where it has melted and also the brown wire has melted exposing some of the wiring. The diode inside the circuit board did it's job but paid the price, so I replaced the diode fpr $2. The air con still works but is intermitten. It must short out.. I've never done this type of job before. is the plug a peugeot part I could order or can I get it from any auto electrical place. Any recomendations welcome?

I've never see that before Crazy

get in touch with someone breaking a 6 on here

and ask them to clip it off giving you some extra wire to play with then I'd start a whole day of splicing wires together Huh?
and hope to who ever it is you believe in it doesn't do it again! LOL

It's not a standard diode.

I've seen that before, the zener diode dying was only the start of it and the main damage was caused by someone replacing the fuse with a higher rated one as it kept blowing due to the dead zener diode and they only stopped once the dash started smoking.

Personally I would remove the loom from the dash and trace the wire from start to finish, I'd be worried that the heat generated may have damaged other wires and it's just asking for a car fire.

Ideally you want to replace the dash loom but due to your location it may not be easy to get a replacement, other 306s may have the same dash loom but you would need to check that all the wires etc are there so it's going to need to be a highish spec 306.
