My car has had a really lumpy idle recently and it stalls sometimes in the mornings when the car is cold.

So today I decided to remove the idle control valve and give it a good clean. I removed the 2 screws holding it on and it came off. I looked at it and noticed there was a connection with no plug connected to it.

I couldn't find any plugs that should be plugged into it but I never got a chance to get the manifold off to look for one properly as it was getting dark. What colour should the plug be? Or does anybody have any pictures showing it plugged in?

Not sure quite what you mean - if you've lost the ICV/stepper motor connector or you found it's not connected, then it's pretty easy to identify as it's the only connector of its type in the engine bay - it's the rounded one on the right in this pic with a light blue stripe around it:

If you're saying that you've found a random connector that's not plugged into anything, and it's like the black one on the right below then don't panic. That's unused on the GTI6, but it's a common wiring loom hence why it's there.

Hope this helps Thumbs up

Thats brilliant mate cheers. It's the connector in the top picture I'm looking for. So it's not possible for that to be connected anywhere else?
