Hi guys - been a while since I've been on here...car has been behaving itself as I'm using it less nowadays having passed my bike test.

Anyway, when I have been driving for the last few weeks there has been a very bad creaking sound when turning lock-to-lock (either direction). This has progressively got worse though it is only creaking (no knocking) and once moving it doesn't affect steering.

I've had droplinks changed not so long ago as well as new springs and shocks so, having check old threads, think it's the ARB's or possibly top mounts. Is there any way of checking ARB's? I think they're still the original set so no bad for 88k usage!

If it helps with the diagnosis I can hear the creaking when going over speed-humps...

Cheers Thumbs up
Shah

Sounds like engine top mount or suspension top mounts.

If it helps any, I thought my engine mount was creaking, tightened it up as it was loose. Creak was still there so had couple of plates welded in. Creak has gone now.

Hmm Ive got this too. Notice it when turning to reverse on drive (knocking) and when going over speed bumps (high pitch squeak/creak). I had the top suspension mount done on the side the creak was coming from, and my engine mount point has been welded once a few years back. I intend on taking the mount off again to make sure it has not cracked againat some point when I can be arsed, but I also wonder if it is because I fitted a chock I bought off some random bloke on here Wink (just fitted one as second was too hard to squeeze in)
