wandering what is the best way to get more power out of
My Gti 6 that I bought last week. It's only got a scorpion cat back and a k and n 57i kit. Was thinking maybe a chip next?? Have been looking at a veizu remap which they reckon 20 - 30 bhp and 65 nm of torque. I thought this sounded a bit far fetched has any one had this done??? Cheers

you will get nowhere near that with a chip.

you will just end up with a over fueling car.

Sounds like too much to me. Think you would normally need a decat, cat back exhaust, decent induction and cams to see anywhere near 200bhp. Mine was rolling roaded at 176bhp with a longlife exhaust, decat and induction kit if thats of any help. I have put the cat on back on and it now feels like its got more torque. Smile

Add cams and a decat followed by a remap for around a grand i expect. Should see reasonable power then i'd have thought.

you gotta use an emulator to remap the 1ap properly... i only know of wayne schofield who has one.. alot of chip programming these days is via obd... hence why no one develops 1ap.. if i had enough interest id be willing to custom map them.

wayne schofield remaped my standard ECU to run my cams. Im now producing 184 on his RR, but have no idea what the power was like before the cams, but its safe to say it probably wasnt 167..

peak figures are silly when talking nasp tuning.. running a bit more igntion advance and less fuel midrange is where the gti-6 makes it power.. It runs quite lean at 7Krpm s its quite hard to release the extra ponies without getting close to det.. especially with cams dialled in to incorporate longer duration of valves..

It will ping.. causing knock detection... causing ignition retard... depends how well they are manually setup..

what's an emulator?

probably have enough customers on here alone if you can offer the service without having to go oop north.

do you have a RR or would you do it on the road or use someone else's RR?

wayne uses emulators as said, to live map the car, then when its right burns it to a chip and replaces the standard one.

an emulator simply emulates the original eprom, allowing for instant software changes between running.. before final burn and socket. nasp tuning on high compression engines requires just that... as combustion temps and pre ignition are very hard to avoid..
