The current belt was changed at 88k and the old girl is now on 121k, so i`m wondering if it needs doing and how much do you wonderful fonts of knowledge think a non garage mechanic should charge for doing it. Thanks in advance.

Yes it needs doing, get a fullkit and waterpump though, be careful as lots of these engines end up fooked and tapping because the belts not changed properly, best get it done by someone who knows these engines, even if it costs you more as its cheaper than a Head rebuild

Make sure you go for a reputable belt brand such as Gates as the difference in belt quality/thickness is quite surprising.
