Good morning, everyoneSmile

Can anyone confirm that Pug have supplied an incorrect air filter to me?

The part number on servicebox is 1444E6, as it appears on my receipt. However, part number on bag containing the filter is 1444WA, and the filter has the metal mesh around the outside of the element, not the inside (like the existing unit). This suggests air flowing the other way, does it not?

Any help would be appreciated. I'm supposed to be preparing birthday celebrations for my wife, instead of which I am c*nting around with my car.

Men are such bas**rds Big grin

Is it the same size?

It could just be a replacement part as they sometimes superseed parts.

Yes - it's the same length & diameter, just a slightly different part no. and with the mesh round the outside. My concern was that the mesh might need to be "downwind" of the element to support it during periods of heavy flow ( Erm? ). I worry that my engine's massive suction will cause it to inhale the filter. Or am I just being paranoid Blink

To be honest I doubt it would matter. I am really confused why the mesh is there, I assume it is to hold the filter upright. It must reduce the flow somewhat.

Thanks for the replies fellas Thumbs up

On reflection I realised my question was lame and girlish, and that I should stop thinking and start doing instead. So I shoved the filter in and all is well, the car is breathing deeply again.

Cheers,
