I was trying to find a source of yet another knocking noise and noticed that when I push the suspension down, the top hat part (circled red in the pic) moves up and down quite a bit.

The main bolt at the top of the strut is definitely tight and it looks like the rubber in the top mount is moving as I push down on the front end of the car.

Would this possibly cause a knocking noise when going over bumps and turning at slow speeds? The movement is only about 5mm when I try to push the front end down.
