Is there a special trick/method for getting the oil cooler pipe of the radiator?

I've been trying to swap out my radiator today, but just can't get the damn thing off. Have tried molegrips (normal and small), but can't get on it as there's not enough space. Also tried pipe grips, pliers and other tools, but can't get it off :-(

Any advice? It's killing me (and my hands!). It seems that you need child size hands to do anything on this car...

Can you not pull it off the exchange, then get the rad out then try and get it off?

Hmmm. Tried using long nose pliers, but just couldn't get enough on it.

Will try disconnecting the other end on the exchanger first, otherwise the inlet manifold is coming off!

You need a pair of these -

you can get by with long nosed pliers, but these seem to be the perfect tool for those fiddly clips.

Did try both mole grips I had. My 'normal' ones were too big and the small ones were too small. Neither are needle nosed like these. Definitely worth a try.

Have you got a link where you got them from?

Cheers - they look like the job.

I just google searched them to be honest, I don't even own a set myself but "I've seen them being used" and the way you can lock them open to the right distance to hold the clip open and grip it at the same time, I could see they'd come in handy... LOL

Cool. I also did the same and ordered these. I normally prefer to spend a couple of extra quid to get the 'expert' stuff as it generally lasts longer and works better.

Will report back on how I get on! Thanks again for the tip.
