The water feed pipe into my heat exchanger (oil / water) has split due to being tight up against a modified alternator/supercharger bracket. I really can't be bothered to get the whole lot off at the moment to fix it, so would like to just stick a bung in the end of the feed hose (that branches of the top rad hose) and stick a hose clip on it to seal it off.

Not pretty I know, but just don't have time to fix it properly at the moment.

As I understand it, the exchanger helps get oil upto temperature from cold, and then once up to temperature can help keep oil temp's down.

So... as long as I let oil heat up, and back off if I notice oil temp's going sky high, I should be able to make do without it for a while?

Cheers
Matt

not an ideal fix, but yes it will work if you keep eye on temps., i would join the 2 hoses together with copper pipe or something to keep water flowing as it should
hope this helps. i have done this with heater matrix and oil cooler hoses

Thanks mate, thats probably a better idea to join the two hoses up, less chance of leaks or further problems!
