Hi- just changed the front shocks and there seems to be more thread protruding than i remember, does that look right? They are OE dampers from the main stealer's that i have fit to replace the original items.dented_vts has attached the following image: |

Can't see on that top photo but is the washer under the nut present on both sides? Just double check everything was put back on the dampers and everything is seated properly.________________________________________ You feed beefburgers to swans. There is a washer under both, but one is real rusty which makes me think its lived most of its life underneath the mount.I did buy new nuts and supplied them to the fitter...but they didnt use them! As far as i'm aware nylock nuts can not be reused and there is no thread lock on them either. |

Drat just measured it couple of mm less showing one side than the other! Not good- what is most likely to be missing washer under mount? |

mabgti wrote: you can pull the dust cover and bump stop down to reveal rod I don't think you should be able to- the bump stop fits over the threaded part of the rod and supports the dust cover. The hole in the top of the bump stop is smaller than the diameter of the rod so it cant slide over it. |

huh.. since when? the bump stop should be able to slide up and down the rod! stopping the rod from full compression using the shock sleeve and top mount!________________________________________ Team Supercharged Gti-6NV Motorsport Automotive Performance Tuning 0121 448 7515 ECU Remapping/ DPF removal VAG/BMW Diag and Option Coding Peugeot Planet ECU coding/transponder programming etc www.nvmotorsport.com Facebook Page Project S6 |

mabgti wrote: huh.. since when? the bump stop should be able to slide up and down the rod! stopping the rod from full compression using the shock sleeve and top mount! Thanks for your help mate. Maybe i have the wrong part then as i ordered part 4 in the pic from the dealers and the whole you can see i the top of the part is smaller than the smooth part of the shaft. On the knackered on it replaced, it was worn so that it would slide over the piston and hence when the suspension was fully extended the proctor fell down and exposed the rod. Maybe the Xsara stops are different? The dampers are different. |
