has anyone had any experiance fitting floor mounted pedal boxes?
basicly to cut a long story short i cant run the standard servo box as it fouls on the cage, not a problem as i was planning on using a bias pedal box anyway. i first ordered a compbrake one which fits in the standard hole, this is a terrible pedal box and wouldnt recommend it to anyone. in the end it ended up on ebay £170 down already.
after alot of looking and researching i went for the floor mounted option (below) which looks very good and is well made. my main problem is as it uses the floor angle to mount it leaves the pedals around 4-5 inches closer to you. ive put the seat right back as far as possible but my knees are very bent with my feet on the pedals, also your knee hits the steering wheel when trying to move across to the brake pedal which isnt exactly ideal.
The seat cant go back anymore as its up against the cage and even if it could i can only just reach the steering wheel at the moment.
this is on my 205 btw.

any help appreciatedBig grin

Looks like you will have to get busy with an angle grinder and a welder. You can cut away the floor and move the pedal box further forward. Obvoiusly you will need to check the other side of the floor for clearance of wheels, subframe etc. Then you will need to fabricate up a new floor panel. Not as hard to do as you may think, but not a five minute job either. I'm going for an OBP box very much like the one pictured and I expect I'll have to do something similar.

As for the wheel, you can get extension bosses to bring the wheel closer to your chest, personally I like the wheel pretty close as it gives you more leverage from the shoulders, making quick steering easier.

ah yeah that isnt a bad idea, could go horrible wrong though.
this is an OBP item. it says on the ad "incredibly easy to install with no cutting or welding required" that is what attracted me to it as it "just" bolts to the floor pan using the angle to mount.

Problem is it's designed for a 205 not a 306. The other option is to send it back and exchange it for a top mounted item, where the pedals hang down in the conventional way. You may need to weld a box section crossmember in for it to mount on but thats no real difficulty.

My advice would be to mount it as high as you can, that will move it further up the slope in the footwell and further from your seat, you can always fold up a little ally shelf for your heels to sit on so your feet dont slip off the pedals.

the compbrake item was hung from the top but the deisgn was terrible.
its designed for a 205 and going in my 205 btw. the angle of the pedals dont seem to be adjustable so if it mounts higher up the bulkhead the pedals will become over verticle if you seem what i mean?

yeah im planning on getting a heel plateSmile

I have one of those 90mm dished sparco rally raid style jobbies, its still too far away for my liking but I'll sort it with a spacer boss.
