Hi, been on here loads and looked at why the 6's tap ( bad cambelt repair) iv tryed to explain this to my mechanic, but he doesnt understand. He says bent valves mean non running engine. What exactly is wrong and why does it tap, and why does it still run? thanks |

its because the valves are only the tinyest bit bent or the valve guides are damaged. Some people only change the visibly bent ones and the others which appear fine still seal ok but tap. After a belt fail all 16 should be changed, valve seats re cut and you'll be lucky if you dont have a smashed valve guide or 2. Hope this helps. If your mechanic doesnt understand that then in all honesty I would be trying to find another one.It is 9 times out of 10 a bent valve or a damaged valve guide where a bent valve has been replaced in the past and the guides were not changed. It will still run fine usually as the valve will still seal but will make a noise whilst doing so. ________________________________________ Pugplus Peugeot parts specialists!!1000`s & 1000`s of new & used parts in stock International shipment Genuine Peugeot parts suppliers A range of Peugeot's for sale Contact info: Mob:07532066648 (richard) Email: pugplus@hotmail.com |

Whatever you do, don't get some average brain dead grease monkey to try and sort it out for you...i did...and over 3 months and about £1500 later (including £800 recently) mine is still tapping You'd be better off going to a specialist who really knows what they're doing mate... |
