The alternator packed in on my phase 3 gti6 last week the battery went flat a few hundered yards from my house and the car cut out so i towed it back and put it on the drive

i changed the alternator tonight,i had to remove the inlet manifold i only pulled off 1 multiplug to get it out the way (the blue one on the timing cover end of the fuel rail) then reasembled ,the car now wont start and i have noticed the fuel pump isnt turning on with the key as it cant be heard

Any help would be greatly apprieciated

Thanks chris

As long as you have checked all wiring and earths etc, it could be the immobiliser.

sounds like the immobiliser to me, have you tried locking and unlocking the car a few times so it knows what state it is in? whenever this happened on my S16 i just locked/ unlocked and did a combination of puting the key in the ignition in order to get it started again.
