As per title, I have searched and have only found the costs for the part (£20 ish). How much should I expect to pay for one to be fitted?

Looking at the angle of the head and the amount of space to work in, I do not fancy taking it on.

I am getting the CAT gasket kit done this weekend and if this does not solve the slight blowing sound on acceleration, the manifold gasket will probably be my next step (as long as it is not mega bucks). Last thing after that will be a sports CAT, as the CAT on it is a cheapo one fitted a couple of years ago, but we will see how these things go and how funds are working out in a few months.

The car seems a little down on power, especially in the mid range, and I can hear this blowing when accelerating down country lanes. There is also a rattle when I am accelerating at about 3K in 5th or 6th, I though this would be the cambelt hitting the case, but this was fine, plus has just been changed, so should not be the culprit.

Anyone got any idea's where my power is going other than this?

Cheers

Matt

Just to add, it has had a CAT back system fitted a few months ago, which would rule out the exhaust blowing from that end.

It is more like a hiss on acceleration, than a blow (if you know what I mean Unsure), seemingly coming from the front of the car.

I would typically charge £45 for fitting an exhaust manifold gasket on a '6'.....

Stan.

i doubt it's the fannymold gasket, more likely the 'donut' in the mani/cat joint.

If it is that then that's getting done tomorrow. Fingers crossed it is, just working through the possibilities.

Cheers Stan. That's not too bad if I have to get it done. I hope it will be the Fire ring/CAT gasket kit malarky.
