Following on from cleaning my ICV thread

I decided to get my car fully serviced in the hope of curing my cutting out issue. So after a new air filter and a breather filter for the ICV and a Diagnostic check which brought up a powersteering fault, I was hoping the problem may have been rectified.

Instead the garage had no idea what was wrong so I'm now down a bob or two for no real reason. Also my new air filter is now straight onto the throttle body so I dont have to worry about puddles as much BUT im sure this is going to hurt performance. Anyway the garage told me if the problem carries on (which it did) to get a whole new throttle body, I'm fed up of chucking cash at it though so is this going to work??

I'm all out of ideas and this car getting bloody dangerous when your turning at a junction and your left coasting without any powersteering with oncoming traffic. Apart from this the car is mint so its really p!ssing me off now.

Has anyone at all got any ideas??Sad

Does it do it when you dip the clutch at low revs?

Have u swapped the icv for a known good one? Had the same thing with mine. I Cleaned the icv up which seemed to be ok but it carried on. In the end the icv died altogether so i replaced it. Hasn't randomly stalled since...

Power steering fault is the key here!

Yes, but it does it at other times too, sometimes when just waiting at traffic lights in neutral, and sometimes it dies really quickly ie when changing down from 4th to 3rd. Anyway I'l look into buying a new ICV alltogether.

Carl-Whats the cure for the powersteering fault? I've heard that can be a cause but it often cuts out when the powersteering isnt in use, ie when stationary just sat in traffic - is their still a link even if your not turning the wheel?

Thanks guys!!

There is a pressure sensor in the high pressure line across the front of the engine. This can cause idling and stalling issues if faulty.

Around £25 for a replacement IIRC.

As mentioned above, unplug the PAS pressure sensor in the line, and go for a drive....Yes

I would almost put money on it that your problem will be cured. Then go and get yourself a new sensor, swap it, then you will be all good to go. Smile

Stan.
