Hi, have been looking at various threads on here recently. Im experiencing problems where i come to a junction or whatever, and i dip the clutch and the revs go up to around 2k, cum down and up once more to 1.5k, then settle. I have read it may be the ICV, but can't find the threads now. What do people think? |

Does the car cut out atall (stall?) when dipping the clutch and general other rev anomalies? If so, its probably the ICV yes. Disconnect the battery, take the ICV off, clean it with carb cleaner, reattach, then put the battery back on and it should sort things out. If not you should look elsewhere for the answer... ________________________________________ ''Oh, it does handle like a golf!'' Why drive a Golf....when you can drive a GTi-6? |

hi, ye the car has stalled before, not so much recently, but it has done. The car does sometimes, when dipping the clutch, the revs die quite quickly and go below the usual 900/1000rpm. But then it does just about keep itself going. To be honest, the main problem i'm having is the coming to a junction first thing in the morning, and the revs being all over the place before it settles. It is aswel quite hesitant when driving at times, which i have read can be the ICV...? What does every1 else think? thanks |

Do you have a 6? It should be right of the inlet manifold....under some sensors...pretty easy to remove thought cant tell you precisely as have not looked much at the 6 engine bay with only just getting mine and it being in the garage already! ________________________________________ ''Oh, it does handle like a golf!'' Ok im 99% sure the ICV is located UNDER where i have circled red. Its a small black cylinder bolted into the manifold. Should just be a case of unscrewing it and pulling it off. Good luck my young padawan.________________________________________ ''Oh, it does handle like a golf!'' Why drive a Golf....when you can drive a GTi-6? |

Dont forget to disconnect the battery for atleast 15mins as this acts as an ecu reset, and will force the car to relearn the ICV and it will think a new one has been put on. You will need your radio code to reactivate ur stereo (if its standard) ________________________________________ ''Oh, it does handle like a golf!'' Why drive a Golf....when you can drive a GTi-6? |

Yeah it is there. See the small pipe coming from the air intake just before the throttle body that attaches to the icv. ________________________________________ Phase 2 Blaze GTi 6 (Standard) SoldPhase 3 Supercharged China GTi 6 (249.8 BHP) Sold Phase 3 Supercharged Diablo GTi 6 (443 BHP)Sold Nissan 350Z (300 BHP) |

Not sure what you mean. But on my 1.8 it was an enclosed cylinder and when you unscrew it, it reveals a pronged bit extending from it, a valve bit that was covered in oil and muck.... ________________________________________ ''Oh, it does handle like a golf!'' Im sure the small pipe that comes off the air intake should go into it.________________________________________ Phase 2 Blaze GTi 6 (Standard) SoldPhase 3 Supercharged China GTi 6 (249.8 BHP) Sold Phase 3 Supercharged Diablo GTi 6 (443 BHP)Sold Nissan 350Z (300 BHP) |
