My fans have stopped cutting in on my 6, I've unplugged the brown switch turned on the ignition and the fans come on. Great i thought just a new brown swith needed. Fitted that and fans still not cutting in, any ideas what else it could be?________________________________________ All cars should have 6 gears!!!! |

If only one fan comes on then it could be a relay. They are located on the cowling between the two fans. They should come on slow speed then after a few seconds go to fast speed. Have a search there are loads of threads on this. |

Mine didn’t work so i cleaned relays and bitron pins with wd40, started engine pull out brown sensor and only drivers side fan came on, smacked right side fan and it started working, must of had crap in it, put the plug back in and the fans came on as normal.________________________________________ |

Well took the bumper off to find the wires had broke behind the passenger foglight. So i've now re-wired it and all is now fixed! ________________________________________ All cars should have 6 gears!!!! |

I have exactly the same problem, and Carl did say it could be wiring down there. I will take a look as soon as I get the chance now, as mine does exactly the same thing and I have changed the fans and relays for known working ones, and exactly the same thing happened. Are the wires tricky to get to with the bumper off, or are they quite obvious? I half checked when I had the front end off, but may well have ommitted to check that, assuming it must now be the bitron, as I had tried new fans and relays, with the same results. Hopefully mine will be as simple as that. It did make me worry today, the single running fan (always on due to the Brown sensor being unplugged, to prevent overheating in traffic) stopped for some reason, I noticed as the temp started to go above 90 when sat in traffic, normally it sits at 80 pretty much everywhere. When I got out, I am sure the fan was not running, but when I stopped and restarted the car, it started running as normal. Shit me up a bit, but hopefully a one off. As soon as the engine was running with the fan on, temp returned to it's normal level, so the fan must have stopped previously. ________________________________________ '00 Astor Grey GTi-6Team: 'EVO Triangle' This is a quantum car.
