Hi

My head gasket went a couple of years ago and since then it has made a tappety noise and i keep hearing that it could be a couple of different things. If i were to send someone a video of this do you think you would be able to tell me the cause?

My 6 is mint but I am worried that eventually the engine will go...........

a valve or a few and most likely a valve guide.

tappets VERY rarely cause this noise.

have you checked your spark plugs recently?

sounds just like my 6 i just bought. i was quoted £600 drive in a tapper and drive back out a non tapper what i think is very expensive especially when you can get a good head for around £150

that's bo***cks.

you've forgotten about the gaskets, head bolts, water pump, timing belt kit, coolant, plus the fact that the heads are rebuilt and pressure tested.

plus a big lump of labour.
