Just had a head skimed. Its been done before so the guy only took 6 thou off this time. He also sunk the valves by 6 thou as the tool would have caught them.

What headgasket should I use? surely if the valves have been sunk, and its been skimmed at least twice, the valves are going to kiss the pistons if I use a standard Headgasked?

Any suggestions?

I'd be inclined to measure the ehad and compare it to the standard and max skim figures, especially if it has been skimmed twice, IIRC about 10 or 11 thou is the max total skim.

Sorry fella, Not got a clue about how to go about doing that???

Are there no indicators on the face to indicate this? Where would I need to measure?

total height of the head, looked at haynes and it only states values for the diesels. i would guess it's measured from the face you've had skimmed to the camshaft bearing housing mating face (or whatever you call the flat bit on top of the main casting) LOL

I'll try and dig out the data, on the older MI16/S16 heads its the height from the mating face to the top of the bare head, i.e without cam ladders.
