Sad Just bought a 205 with a GTi-6 engine. The car is good well finished shell with good running gear 1.9 Gti box but the engine has issues. Can any of you guys help.Throttle response is flat and power is poor and uneven. The previous owner has just fitted a timing belt and I suspect it is a tooth out but when I checked visually the dowel holes don't make sense i think the damped crank pulley has spun.SO HERE IS THE QUESTION ARE THE STANDARD TIMING MARK DOWELS AT TDC IF I FIND TDC WITH A DIAL GAUGE WILL THE CAM PULLEYS LINE UP OR DOSE ANYBODY KNOW ANOTHER WAY TO ACCURATELY LINE UP THE CRANK ON ONE OF THESE ENGINES INDEPENDENT OF THE PULLEY

fit a new pulley, miles and rich W on here do solid alloy ones if you want one, or most motorfactors can get you a standard replacement.

thanks for the quick reply welshpug solid pulley is obviously way to go I will get one but just to quickly check if the belt is wrong or not I was going to dial up tdc and check cams. On quite a few sporty engines especially with peaky cams the timing marks are where the cams are slack/stable not exactly tdc I am new to this engine and wondered if it was set at tdc or not
