Hammerite fine much better than the VHT they sell instore for calipers as you have plenty leftoverresistant to 500degrees anyway IIRC prep them well and it'l last as per anything otherwise its just chip off, 2 years on my calipers are still fine ________________________________________ RIP Pete Sims |

i was looking at that paint on ebay when i got home alright, was gonna get it just wanted to see is there any other stuff i could get sooner cos i need to change the pads and discs in the next day or 2 and wanted to do the calipers while there off...so the hammerite will do the job then, lovely ill get that tomorrow so, and i was gonna get it and all only the lad in halfords said "no thats no use it will flake off" will the hammerite do to spray straight on then or should i put a coat of heat resistant paint on under it? ________________________________________ IF YOU CAN READ THIS IM STILL IN 5TH!!! |

Halfords guys talking shite, decent prep is the key to how long it lasts, a good wire brush off and a good clean should do the job fine, Personally i'd use a brush too and paint it on much easier thats how i did mine.FTR i took mine off and gave them a good bumming with the angle grinder with a wire wheel on them a good preclean to remove any grease, They arent flaking but the fronts have changed from silver to a yellowy colour, It has taken 2 years to get them to change though! Another lick over with silver should do them another two years. £5 a pot and it'l last a long time it'l do me ________________________________________ RIP Pete Sims |

I've did mine on my last 306 in blue hammerite smooth paint not sprayGive them a good clean with wire brush and wipe down then mask off the discs around the callipers then paint on don't get any paint On the pads or discs couple of coats. Doing my rallye ones red next week while wheels are been refurbed. Hammerite is cheaper and better Than the calliper paint. |

well that wont be 2bad if they change to yellow cos there yellow anyway it'll save me sprayin them again!! i did them today anyway gave em a good wire brushing and wipe down and put on about 4 coats so just waiting on them to dry now to try the new discs! what i noticed is the discs on the car looked a bit too small and there was even a big lip on the pads where they werent touching the disc, when i took them off i measured them and there 265 mil but the new ones i got are 283 mil..... any ideas which shoud be the proper size?? the new ones fit perfect anyway, mabey the ones on it were from an xsi or phase 1 6?? ________________________________________ IF YOU CAN READ THIS IM STILL IN 5TH!!! |
