Right, I'm used to having a diesel 306 that didnt go above 75. and NEVER above 90.

However, the 6 (after been thrashed a little) goes upto 105 in traffic. Doesnt go any higher and it comes down soon ish. Normally stays just under 90 if moving.

Its making me nervous as i really dont want to damage my head gasket.

I made a picture of where it goes upto on the temp dial

Link to the picture is here (lame forum wont enable html image code :/)

105 is normal, that's when the fans come on, the stat in these is 83 degrees.

check if both fans are working/spinning though - otherwise you will have lost low speed mode and you'll find it will quickly go up to that sort of temp and then just bounce around between there and 95 as it blasts the one fan on high speed.

I think both fans are working, best way to test if they are working? just let it get warm and watch both fans?

Also, out of interest, once i get out the car and stop the engine (car is still hot/warm at this point) should the fans still be spinning to cool the engine down?

They currently dont, but i wondered if they SHOULD be doing that.

Mine do carry on spinning but only if they were on high speed before I turned the engine off...
