i'm rebuilding my head and some tappets are squidgy and others are hard. how do i bleed them? other than shaking them up and down a lot LOL

they don't need bleeding, the pressure of the oil will force any air bubbles if there are any after the first run, they can take up to 20 minutes to quieten down and often need a proper drive not just a quick rev.

so it doesn't matter if some are hard and others are soft? i just chuck it all back together and they will sort themselves out? the head has been in bits for about 3 months now so i thought any residual pressure in them should have leaked out by now.

Yes mate just pop them in and they will be fine, a little tappy fr a few minutes then the odd one will take a little while to quiten.

interesting read that, mei. didnt realise the valves are 3 angle cut at factory (or supposed to be!)

emphasis on the supposed to be! LOL

that's an Mi16 by the way, not sure if the gti6 is meant to be the same, but I wouldn't be surprised if its not too dissimilar.

you mean the seats? you can see that when you look at the head. Cool
