does anyone know what this is?

Also onthe MAP sensor wire i found a connection NOT connected to anything, does this matter?
And finally does anyone have a guide to removing the stepper motor?

the white connector was attached to the air temp sensor but it has been cut and soldered to a mysterious black box.

Mega bog job!!

box cover comes off but there is solid black stuff inside like what you get in a sealed capacitor!!

it must be sending a false temp reading back to the ecu, never seen this before. I don't know if the car was chipped or just a DIY modification to try to make it go faster.
