right this is my dilemma,locked crankshaft in place then my dad(73) who thought he was doing me a favour took off cylinder head without locking up the cramshafts to timing marks and despite looking at haynes manual cant figure out how to time the engine can anyone point me in the right direction? |

There is holes in the camshafts sprockets that you need to align with the appropriate holes in the cast. the timing in this engines are fools proof, just stick 6-8 mm pins through it to lock it. ________________________________________ French military victories?Did you mean French military defeats? |

reggyboy wrote: sprockets off inlet camshaft and sprocket has no timing hole on it timing holes aren't in the main sprocket, they are in the hub behind it, which is the bit that matters as it has a key that fits into the actual shaft. don't turn the cams independent of each other while they are still in the head as that can cause the valves to collide which will damage them easier than you think. |
