Sorry to start another "cooling fans not working thread" but I have searched and I think I am really close.

I have a Phase3 2.0 XSi 16v and the cooling fans have stopped working. I have replaced the brown sensor and the thermostat.

If I disconnect the brown sensor they come on and I noticed yesterday that they came on after having the aircon on for a while but they are not coming on when the engine temp gets hot.

I have checked the bitron unit under the wheelarch and it looks fine. Is there any way of testing this?

What else could it be?

It is really bugging me and I would really appreciate someone pointing me in the right direction.

Cheers

Dave

I had exactly the same problem recently. Found out it was a duff relay. Which is found between the two fans on the whole fan unit itself. Should be a little box, between the two fans.

Cool I'll replace those next then. Where's the best place to buy them from?

Update: I have now replaced the relays but the fans are still not coming on when the engine gets hot. Any other ideas?

If you remove the brown switch plug and they work it has to be a faulty sensor??
